- I get an error message when I try to upload my XML file.
- I can't figure out how to configure my header or add a tagline.
- I want a customized header image, not this basic one that comes with my theme.
- I don't understand how to add my social media icons, or I'm having troubles when I try.
- Where is my navigation bar?
- I can't get my profile image to work - it's too big, not a circle, not centered, etc.
I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO UPLOAD MY XML FILE
Your error message probably looks about like this: "We were unable to save your template. Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly." It may be a little different, but same premise. This is a blogger quirk. If you view your template, you should see that the style has applied correctly. This happens every once in a blue moon for reasons unknown.
If this doesn't fix the problem, check to make sure you are installing the template in the correct place. Make sure you're going to Template -> Backup/Restore and uploading the XML file there.
I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONFIGURE MY HEADER OR ADD MY TAGLINE
The tagline is a little confusing! On Blogger, they refer to it as "description." When you're configuring your header, add it to the "description" spot. The header is a quick process! You can follow our video tutorial here:
HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR HEADER
If you want a more specialized header, something with a fancier font or maybe a graphic or two, never fear! You have a few options. You can use a photo editing program of your choice to edit the blank PNG included in your download (this is important to use because its width is sized properly for your template). You can also purchase an upgraded header from our shop here. Watch our tutorial about using Picmonkey for free to create your header:
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO ADD MY SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS, OR I'M HAVING TROUBLES WHEN I TRY.
Social media icons can be daunting! We get it. We've tried to make the process as easy as possible so that all you have to do is copy some code and swap out a few links, but we put together a video tutorial that walks you through this:
WHERE IS MY NAVIGATION BAR?
In most cases, your navigation bar will automatically appear after you install your XML file, but occasionally it doesn't. To add it, go to the "Layout" section of your Blogger dashboard and click "Add a gadget" in an empty gadget space either above or below your header spot (depending on how your own theme is laid out - check the demo to see if the navigation bar should be above or below if you aren't sure). Check out our video tutorial:
I CAN'T GET MY PROFILE IMAGE TO WORK
Does your profile image look different than it did on the demo blog? You might be using an image that is too small. Make sure your image was cropped into a square of 350px X 350px. It can be larger than that, but no smaller. If you've done that and you're having a different issue, make sure you have copied all the code correctly, left quotation marks as they should be, etc. If you're still having troubles, please check out this video tutorial:
